Helen Joan Wysong

Helen Joan Wysong, 88, of Wolf Lake, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at North Ridge Village Nursing. Born December 18, 1927 in Cromwell, she was the daughter of Merle and Ruby (Knox) Bennett.

A lifetime resident of Wolf Lake, Joan graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1945. On December 28, 1946, Joan married Allen L. Bud Wysong. She had worked for the United States Post Office for over 25 years, retiring from the Ligonier Post Office. She had been a member of the Wolf Lake United Methodist Church and the Wolf Lake VFW Post 4717 Ladies Auxiliary. Not only was she a dedicated and loving wife, she was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma.

Survivors include her sons, Rick (Katie) Wysong of Wolf Lake and Bob (Mary) Wysong of Cromwell; brothers, John (Shirley) Bennett of Roundup, Mont. and Steve Bennett of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband in 2003.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Graveside funeral services will 10 a.m. Saturday at Thorn Cemetery, 625 W. 350 S., Ormas with Pastor Dan Carlson officiating. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Wysongs memory to the VFW Post 4717.
