HERBERT D. HARTMAN

Herbert "Bud" D. Hartman, age 78, of North Manchester, IN died at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2008 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. Born on February 23, 1930 in Whitley County, IN, he was the son of Herbert V. and Rachel M. (Davis) Hartman.He moved from Columbia City, IN to North Manchester, IN in 1994. He attended Columbia City High School, Columbia City, IN and received his GED in the military. He served in the United States Army from 1948 from 1952 in the Korean War. On July 31, 1970, he married Dorothy M. Richardson at First Church of God, Columbia City, IN. He worked at Riverside Dairy, Columbia City, IN for 5 years as a route driver, Columbia City Freight Lines for 30 years, and Alvan Trucking for 10 years retiring in 1994. He attended First Church of God, Columbia City, IN., Touch of Life Church, Warsaw, IN., and Sweetwater Church, North Manchester, IN.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Hartman of North Manchester, IN; 2 daughters, Karen (Jim) Hatfield and Kathy (Ray) Maggard both of Columbia City, IN; 3 sons, Rex Hartman, Bradley (Jenny) Hartman and Brian Hartman all of Columbia City, IN; 4 brothers, Robert Hartman and Dal Hartman both of Columbia City, IN, Jack (Sandy) Hartman of Goshen, IN and Larry (Rosie) Hartman of Sterling, CO; 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Betty Weller and Evelyn Judd, brother, Donald Hartman and granddaughter, Ashley Hartman.Visitation will be on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home with Reverend Curtiss Johnson officiating. Burial to follow at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Hartman to the Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard.
