Howard LeRoy Hinton, 83, of Roanoke, passed away on Wednesday January 2, 2013 at Norwood Nursing Center in Huntington. He was born August 26, 1929 in Fairmount, Indiana and he was the son of the late Oral and Estia Marie (Zentemyer) Hinton.
Howard attended Anderson High School and was a WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Marines.He later earned a degree in engineering during his 40 year career with General Motors as a Journeyman/Millwright.
On August 21, 1976 Howard married Carol (Stump) Frank in Huntington.Membership affiliations include the Masons, Blue Lodge, 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite, and Shriners. Howard really enjoyed woodworking with his vast assortment of tools he had collected.
Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years Carol of Roanoke; children Paul(Sue) Hinton of Centerpoint, Howard R. Hinton of Brazil, ReAnn (Tom) Donaghy of Fort Wayne, Tammy (Mark) Boohaw of Brazil, Kim (Perry) Myers of Huntington, Tim (Toni) Frank of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oral and Estia Hinton and a sister, Madelaine Hinton.
Friends may call on Sunday January 6, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with calling one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, Wilmot. Memorial contributions may be made to Feed The Children or to St Joseph Burn Unit. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
