Hugh B. Fowler

Hugh Bartley Fowler, age 80, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away at 2:43 am on Friday June 1, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on April 7, 1938 in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of George and Norma (Snyder) Fowler.

Hugh was born and raised in New York and attended Baldwinsville Central Schools and Academy, before moving to Fort Wayne in 1961. He also attended Ivy Tech to earn his Associate of Applied Science in Communication Electronics, Indiana Institute of Technology to earn his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, St. Francis College to earn his Masters of Science in Education, and ITT Technical Institute to earn his Bachelor of Applied Science in Automation Manufacturing.

Hugh proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. On November 24, 1962 Hugh married Jewel Anne Brunner in Ossian, IN. During his working career, Hugh worked as a secondary education teacher, trade school instructor, and a television repairman. He was a former member of First Church of God in Columbia City and currently attended Agape Church of the Brethren in Fort Wayne. Hugh enjoyed writing music, dining out, cooking, and he was known for making great salsa.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years Jewel Fowler of Fort Wayne; son David Fowler of Kuwait; grandson Michael Fowler of Columbia City; sisters Karen Hoag of Auburn, NY, Nilia (Robert) Harris of Flemingsburg, KY, and Mary (Rick) Horton of Southlake, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Hugh will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday June 7, 2018 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling two hours prior to service.
