Ilene Zumbrun

Ilene Lucille Zumbrun, 91, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Hearth of Sycamore, Ft. Wayne. Born April 12, 1925 in Noble County, IN she was the daughter of Tonda and Millie (Winebrenner) Keister.

She graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1943. On November 6, 1943, she married Harold Spike Zumbrun in Noble County. Ilene worked for 25 years at Victor Gasket-Dana Corporation, Churubusco, but spent most of her life time as a homemaker and assisting on the family farm. She spent her adult lifetime in Whitley County and wintered in Florida for over 15 years. Ilene grew up in and was a member of Merriam Christian Chapel Church and attended West Point United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid and Big Lake Church of God. She was a former member of the NEO, Whitley County Home Extension Club and the Euchre Card Club.

Survivors include her children, Jenny (Jim) Pettigrew, Charlene (John) Saggars, Sarah (Ron) Bunyan, Beverly Goss, Jerry Grub (Terrie) Zumbrun; daughter-in-law, Pam Zumbrun-Endsley; brother, Paul Keister; 22 grandchildren including, Jeffrey, Jason, Jerrold, Joel and Jonathan Pettigrew, Tracy Nall, Trisha Gonzales, Tammy Aldrich, Monica Sheets, Melissa Geiger, Michelle Lamont, Miranda Hosler, Ben and Matthew Bunyan, Adam, Karen and Thomas Goss, Julie Wappes, Angela Campbell, Zach Zumbrun, Cari Wells and Caylyn Burns; 66 great- grandchildren and 13 great- great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold E. Spike Zumbrun; son, David Zumbrun; 2 sisters, Pauline Bair and Virginia Parker; and son-in-law, Tom Goss, and 1 grand daughter Christina Jeffers and 1 great grandson, Colton Wells.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Burghdoff officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery.
