Iris Rose Cox, age 84, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:42 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2013 at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.Born on December 13, 1928 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Paris and Hazel (Harmon) Standiford.
She moved to Whitley County in 1948 from Covington Downs in Allen County and resided in both Jefferson and Washington Townships. She graduated from Jefferson Center High School.On January 16, 1949, she married Harold Eugene Cox in Waynedale.She and her husband managed and operated the Cox Family Farm until 1973. From 1973 to May, 1991 she worked at Alcoils in Columbia City.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Harold Eugene Cox of Columbia City; son, DaleE. (Renee) Cox of Albion; daughters, Rita (Ed) Thompson-Sites of North Webster;Darlene (Jeff) Clack, Myra (Ron) Bolinger,LuAnn (Jim) Davies all of Columbia City;12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Francis and Ivan Standiford and 1 infant sister, Imogene.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.Funeral service will be at 10 am on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Cox's to Laud Christian Church.
