JAMES C. CAMPBELL Sr., age 72, of Big Lake, IN passed away at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on October 30, 1940 at his home in Noble County, he was the son of Claude W. Campbell and Betty (Gibson) Campbell.
He graduated from Indiana State School for the Deaf. On April 3, 1964 he married Barbara Sherman at Merriam Christian Chapel.He was a machine operator for Viking Inc. for almost 40 years and retired in 2005. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed tying flies and drinking coffee at Goss Grocery with his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara Campbell; daughters, Vicky Kilgore, Patty (Tom) Spurlock, Peggy (Greg) Morgan and Kathy (Scott) Silk all of Columbia City; son, James C. (Mandy) Campbell Jr. of Ligonier; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way.He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 1 sister; and a great-granddaughter, Alice Spurlock.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013 at the funeral home with Rev. Barry Faucett officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Campbell's memory to the final expense account in care of DeMoney-Grimes.
