James R. Sadlowski

October 26, 1965 — May 13, 2019

Giving, generous, loving and sweet were just a few ways to describe Jim Sadlowski. He had a heart of gold, he was funny and he knew how to have a great time! Through fate, Jim would find the love of his life who he could spoil, pamper and create many wonderful memories with. With a teasing personality, he would often reply, "Yes mam" followed up with a salute to Amy after a conversation.

With the Vietnam war worsening and more American lives being lost, 1965 had several positive events occurring. The St. Louis Gateway Arch was completed, the Voting Rights Act become law, the Gemini Space Program continues into 1965 and lays the groundwork for an eventual manned mission to the moon and no news was more exciting to Norman and Ethel (Nelson) Sadlowski as they welcomed their son, James R. Sadlowski into their heart and home on October 26, 1965 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

The 4th born child, he grew up in in Pittsfiled along with his older siblings, Bob, Richard, Linda and several years later his younger brother Joel was born. They were raised Catholic and attended local schools. He enjoyed playing baseball and at a young age he enjoyed any type of racing. If it had wheels, Jim would watch it race. He looked up to his older brother Bob and decided that he would attend Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana for Electrical Engineering after graduating Pittsfield High School with the Class of 1983.

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Jim took a job at Magnavox and as he walked through the plant, a young lady caught his attention. After doing some investigating, he asked Amy J. Bradtmiller out. The two would fall in love and on June 1, 1990 they were married in Fort Wayne. Jim would end up taking a position and currently was working at AEP/ Indiana Michigan Power.

Jim was a unique collector of items from a suite of armor, guns, down to grenades. A member of the NRA, he enjoyed loading his own bullets and going to the shooting range. He was a BBQ Master and a great cook. He mastered grilling out and smoking meats for his friends and family to enjoy. Jim also found time to root on his nephews as they played hockey.

Out of everything, Jim loved to travel the world with Amy. They enjoyed many wonderful trips together along with friends. His favorite places to visit were Hawaii, Rome, Santorini and many cruises that Amy planned out for them. On one cruise, they renewed their vows on a Dawn Princess cruise liner in 2001.

Unfortunately, life forever changed for Amy, Jim's family and Jim's friends after he unexpectedly passed away Monday morning, May 13, 2019 at his home. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Amy Sadlowski; brother, Bob (Nadine) Sadlowski, of Lanesborough, MA; sister, Linda (Mike) Londergan, of Pittsfield, MA; brother Joel (Lee) Sadlowski, of Pittsfield, MA; in-laws, Carl and Dolores Bradtmiller, of Columbia City; brother-in-law, Brian (Karen) Bradtmiller, of Churubusco; sister-in-law, Beth Manns, of Columbia City; nephew, Keith (Rachel) Bradtmiller; nephew, Kirk (Aiwen) Bradtmiller, niece; Danielle (Josh) Duda; niece, Lizzy (Jeremy) Werden; nephew, Matt (Crystal) Sadlowski; nephew, Corey (Dairen) Sadlowski; nephew, Michael (Stefanie) Londergan; great-nieces, Grace and Hallie; and great-nephews, Michael and Grayson.
