Janet D. Miller

Janet D. Miller, 82, of Albion, Indiana, passed away 12:46 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at her home. Born September 24, 1937 in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Dale E. and Virginia C. (Holocher) Meyer.

She grew up in Whitley County and graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1955. While growing up, she knew Robert E. Miller who lived a few houses away. While he was serving in U.S. Army, the two began talking and seeing each other when he was home. On November 29, 1958, she married Robert E. Miller Sr. at Churubusco United Methodist Church by Rev. Tagert.

Janet and Robert would welcome five children into their hearts and home over the years. The family enjoyed many camping adventures throughout the years and she was always there to support and help her children as they were in 4-H. Janet also worked for Chain-O-Lakes for 8 years in various roles but enjoyed working the front gate and she retired from the Albion New Era Newspaper in 2004. She was a member of Sugar Grove Church of God and the Eastern Star.

She was strong willed and compassionate in her own way. Janet loved her family and adored her grandchildren. Aside from camping, she also enjoyed fishing and traveling.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 1/2years, Robert E. Miller Sr.; children, LeaAnn Wicker, Lisa Brashear, Robert (Charlotte) Miller, Jr., and Brenda (Jeremey) Deter, sister, Patricia (Duane) Norris, 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Meyer; and two brothers, Dale Meyer, Jr. and Duane Meyer.

A gathering of family and friends will be 2 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2020 at Sugar Grove Church of God, 5019 E 500 S 57, Churubusco. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with visitation one-hour prior. Pastor Tim Grable will be officiating. Burial will take place at Christian Chapel Cemetery.
