In Loving Memory of Janet M. Wiederholt

Janet M. Wiederholt, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Columbia City, IN, on December 28, 2023. She was born on January 5, 1941, in Fort Wayne, to Harold and Valetta Wetzel.

Janet attended Elmhurst High School and graduated in 1959. On April 23, 1960, she married the love of her life, Joseph L. Wiederholt, in Fort Wayne. Together, they shared a life filled with love, commitment, and countless cherished memories.

In her early career, Janet dedicated herself as a hardworking bookkeeper for Wayne Feeds. After taking time to raise her children, she returned to the workforce with the American Red Cross, where her dedication and compassion touched the lives of many.

During her retirement years, Janet found joy in living at Tri-Lakes alongside her husband, and later, they moved to Columbia City. Janet had a deep love for her family and cherished spending time with her children and sisters. She also found great pleasure in socializing and engaging in friendly games of euchre and bingo at the Columbia City Senior Center.

Janet will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Wiederholt and her parents.

Jan is survived by her children Scott, Brian, and Marcy (Chad) Hurley of Fort Wayne.  Grandchildren Ethan and CJ Hurley.  She is also survived by her sisters Sally Clay of Roanoke, Peggy Courtney of Taylors South Carolina, Cindy (David) Rice of Fort Wayne, and Kathy (Roland) Uhrick of Greenfield. She leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate Janet's life will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Columbia City Senior Center, as a tribute to Janet's giving spirit.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and warmth she shared with everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
