JANIS E. MILLER

January 7, 1943 — March 2, 2008

Janis Elaine Miller, age 65, died at 5:08 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Lutheran Hospital of IN in Fort Wayne. Born in Wolf Lake, Noble County, IN on January 7, 1943, she was the daughter of Ermal Avon Dutch and Cynthia Olof (Hickman) Gordon.

She graduated with the Class of 1961 from Churubusco High School, Churubusco, IN and from Fort Wayne Community Schools with a LPN degree. On November 12, 1966, she was united in marriage to Lloyd E. Pork Miller at Grace Lutheran Church in Columbia City, IN. A lifelong resident of Whitley County, her career as a nurse spanned more than 40 years between Whitley County Hospital, Alfran Nursing Home, a plant nurse for Dana Weatherhead, a private duty nurse, and as a head nurse for Dr. Willyard in Churubusco, IN retiring in 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Joni (Robert) Karp of Fruita, CO; brother, Gary Lynn (Ann) Gordon of Churubusco, IN; brother-in-law, Bill Miller of Fort Wayne, IN; several nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Randy and Kim Davis of Churubusco, IN. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Visitation is 2-4 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the funeral home with Julie Turla, a niece, officiating. Committal service will follow at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco, IN. Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Miller to the Churubusco United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
