Jason Alan Christman, 38, of Columbia City, Indiana passed away at 9:12 a.m. Sunday, November 8, 2015 at his home. Born September 25, 1977 in Columbia City, he was the son of Gene Christman and Peggy Salesman.
Jason was a lifelong resident of Columbia City. As a boy he enjoyed playing basketball and football, being outdoors and being around his friends. He attended Columbia City Joint High School and he dappled in various careers before he was proud to settle with Huntley Electric, where he worked throughout the life of the company.
Along with being an electrician, Jason persistently maintained a soft spot in his heart for children. He would often take his niece shopping and his kids to waterparks. One of his favorite trips was taking the kids down to Indianapolis to spend time at the waterpark. He enjoyed lending his time to family and friends to ensure the kids in his life could celebrate birthdays and have fun times. Jason, being the kind-hearted person he was and whom loved to make children happy, offered to help a neighbor by driving him to Ft. Wayne to pick up a bouncy house for their childs birthday. This was a day that changed Jason and his families lives forever. On August 13, 2010, he was struck by another car on a county road. The wreck took away much of his mobility; however, Jason continued to persevere and remain living on his own, independently.
Jason liked to shop, he took pride in the way he dressed and was certain to match from head to toe. He was always up to date on all the latest gadgets and technology, which also helped him stay in contact with close friends and family.
He is survived by his mother, Peggy Salesman of Columbia City; father, Gene (Carol) Christman of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.; brother, Jared (Joslyn) Christman of Goshen; grandparents, Carl and Madge Salesman, Jr. of Columbia City; and niece, Nyah Christman.
Visitation will be held 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with funeral service following Friday, November 13, 2015 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Burial at St. Matthews Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made toward his funeral expenses, C/O DeMoney-Grimes. To read Jasons life story or to send his family online condolences, visit
