JoEllen Krasienko

March 24, 1926 — January 17, 2024

Josephine "JoEllen" Ellen Krasienko, 97, of Huntington, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. Born March 24, 1926 in Fulton County, she was the daughter of George "Kelly" and Anna C. (Hepp) Shanley.

Living in Fulton County until 1943, JoEllen attended Grass Creek School until her senior year and graduate from Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne with the Class of 1944. She graduated from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine and during WWII, she worked at an ammunition factory. On July 21, 1951, she married Chester Andrew Krasienko at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. In 1973, they moved to their farm in rural Huntington County near Goblesville. Along with being a homemaker and housewife, JoEllen was a general farmer and a skilled gardener and seamstress. She was a member of  St. Catherine's Catholic Church where she had played the organ, the Rosary Society, past member of the Home Extension and G.E. Squares Wives.

Survivors include her children, Mary F. (Michael) Hahn, John T. (Terri) Krasienko, Jane E. (Mark) Trabert; sister, Georgeann Schnurr; brothers,  Bill Shanley, Tom (Linda) Shanley; 5 grandchildren,  Adam (Cassie) Trabert, Marie Trabert, Chelsea (Brody) Young, Kyle (Jodi) Trabert, Alan (Hannah) Trabert; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Jillian, Logan, Landon, Jake, Madison and anticipating one more in the next months.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Krasienko on March 12, 2008; and sister, Mary C. Shanley; brother John Shanley.

Visitation will be 1:30 to 5 pm, Sunday, January 28, 2024 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive,Columbia City with a Rosary prayer starting at 1 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Father Dale A. Bauman will be officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Catherine's Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in memory to Masses or St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
