John Lynn Starkey, 76, of Albion, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born April 22, 1946 at Lucky Hospital in Wolf Lake, he was the son of Roy Wilson and Alice Loena (Egolf) Starkey.
He graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1964 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. After serving two years, he was honorably discharged and went to work at Form Tube. After working for over 35 years with Home Crest in Goshen John retired giving him more opportunities enjoy the outdoors. He was an avid trapper, raccoon hunter and member of the Whitley County Coon Hunters Association. He also enjoyed running his Bluetick Coonhounds and fishing with his cousins.
John is survived by his siblings, Sharon Fear, Melba (John) Moorhouse, Russell (Mollie) Starkey, Lois Starkey, Lana (Jerry) Jacobs and June Treble; sister-in-law, Jeanie Starkey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Beard; and brother, Roy "Bud" Starkey; brother and sister-in-law Dave and Patty Starkey; and brother-in-law, Tom Fear.
A private family graveside service will be held at Christian Chapel Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in John's memory to the Whitley County Coon Hunters Association.
