Joy J. Haney, 87, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away at 11:05 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born November 5, 1928 in Union Township of Whitley County, she was the daughter of Charles A. and Alta J. (Kissell) Pettigrew.

She graduated from Coesse High School Class of 1946. On March 3, 1950 she married Robert J. Haney. She worked for a short time at Lincoln National Life before being a stay at home mom and helping with the family farm. She was a member of First Church of God in Columbia City and had been a Sunday School Secretary and Childrens Sunday school teacher. She also was involved with WCSC and visiting shut-ins.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Robert Haney; daughters, Dawn McDevitt of Columbia City and Jill (Terry) Gilbert of Uniondale; son, Mark (Mary) Haney of Ft. Wayne; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alverl, Eldon, Robert, William and Charles Pettigrew; and son-in-law, Steve McDevitt.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at DeMoney-Grimes, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. David Biberstein officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
