Joyce N. Gaff, age 90, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 9:46 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. Born on August 4, 1922 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Nathaniel C. and Lillian A. (George) Newman.
She lived in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and then moved to Churubusco in 1944 and then to Florida in 1987. In May, 2006 she moved to her present home in Columbia City. She graduated from Patterson Collegiate Institute with a Senior Matriculation in Windsor in 1941. Her first marriage was to Paul J. Gaff, Sr. on March 21, 1942 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Windsor and on October 7, 1984, she married Jay L. Gaff. She retired in 1982 from Dana in Churubusco. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Meade, FL.
Survivors include her sons, Jay Verne L. Gaff of Mulberry, FL and Herbert N. (Sandy) Gaff of Ft. Wayne; step-son, Herbert (Neva) L. Gaff both of Albion; sisters, Viola Gignac and Natalie Russell both of Windsor, Ontario; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Paul; second husband, Jay; sons, Paul Jr. and Fred; step-son, Carl; sister, Lillian Sinclair; and a great-granddaughter, Angel Gaff.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 from at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home with burial to follow at Merriam Christian Chapel.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Gaff to Lions Club International and American Heart Association.
