Juanita Faye Riffe, age 61, passed away at 12:29 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at her residence. Born on March 16, 1947 in Stanton, Powell County, KY she was the daughter of Glen Roy and Emma Lee (Tharpe) Riffe, Sr.A Stanton, Kentucky native, she attended Powell County High School and she completed an Activities Directors Course through Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne, IN. In November, 1984, she moved to Columbia City, IN. She worked for 11 years as a medication aide for a nursing home in Kentucky and she cared for the elderly in their homes in Columbia City. She was a member of Oak Grove Church of God, Columbia City. Survivors include her son, Steven Jackson (Jennifer) Riffe of Piqua, OH; grandchildren, Joshua K. Aker and Sloane Emilee Riffe both of Piqua, OH; sisters, Mary Angeline Napier of Clay City, Powell Co., KY and Virginia Stewart of Elliot Lake, Canada; nephews, David and Art Napier of Kentucky; nieces, Serena McKinney of Kentucky and Samantha Riffe of Columbia City; great-nephew, Dominic Thompson; great-niece, Skyler Thompson of Columbia City; and close friends, Pat, Homer, and Garrison Knight of Columbia City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Ronald, Larry and Jackie Riffe, and a brother-in-law, Elmer Napier.Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Pastor Steve Johnson of Oak Grove Church of God will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in a family plot in Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Ms. Riffe to the Whitley County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
