Julia A. McQueen

March 2, 1954 — December 29, 2022

Julia A. McQueen, 68, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at her home. Born March 2, 1954 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Donald and Edith (Schrader) Chapman.

While attending Columbia City Joint High School, Julia enjoyed playing basketball and graduated with the Class of 1972. She would go on to further her education at Indiana University where she received her Associates Degree in Interior Design. On May 19, 1973, she married Ronald McQueen at Columbia City United Methodist Church where they are members at. Julia loved to help others. Faithful, compassionate, determined, and athletic were just a few ways to describe Julia. She was a past State Bowling Champion and had quite the competitive side to her. She would not even allow her granddaughters to win without earning it. Julia loved being with her family, traveling, playing games, working on puzzles, and creating scavenger hunts. She enjoyed creating poems, watching any type of sports event on TV, and was a proud supporter of any I.U. sports.

Julia is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Ron McQueen; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Jeremy Meyer; granddaughters, Averie Meyer and Brenna Meyer; and brother, James Chapman. She was preceded in death by her parents.
