KAREN ANN BEHM

March 18, 1963 — February 13, 2008

Karen Ann Behm, age 44, of Albion, IN died at 5:25 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008 while vacationing with her husband and friends in Costa Rica. Born on March 18, 1963, she was the daughter of Jimmy E. Hoppas and Shirley A. Rosen.

She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1981. On October 23, 1981 she married Dennis R. Behm in Columbia City. She previously worked for Reelcraft from 1984-1996 and for the last five years has been employed at J K Communications in Columbia City. She enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Eagle Glen Monday Night Ladies Golf League.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis R. Behm of Albion, IN; mother, Shirley A. (James) Bradley of Columbia City; father, Jimmy E. (Sara) Hoppas, Columbia City; sister, Pam Listenberger, Churubusco, IN; brother, Tony Angel, Pierceton, IN; 5 step-sisters, Becky (Randy) Bays of Warsaw, IN, Ferol (Matt) Hawkins of Greensburg, KY, Lisa (Charles) Williams, Logansport, IN, Cheryl (Rick) Schlechty of Portland, IN, and Marie (Rex) Wieble of Houiland, OH; 2 step-brothers, Joseph Holloway of Warsaw, IN and John (Nicki) McCloughan of Kentucky; sister-in-laws, Cathy Smith, of South Bend and Jennifer (Steve) Weigold of Ligonier, IN; 2 brother-in-laws, David (Polly) and Dan (JoAnne) Behm both of Columbia City; mother-in-law, Carolyn Behm of Albion, IN; and her 2 kids Blondie and Sunny the dogs. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Ed Behm; grandparents, Ed and Clara Hoppas and Violet Graves and James Rosen.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 22 at the funeral home with Rev. Christine Newman-Jacobs of Churubusco United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be private. Memorial donations maybe made in Mrs. Behms memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
