Karen Sue Mettler

Karen Sue Mettler, 80, formerly of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw. Born November 12, 1942 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of James Louis and Mary Katherine (North) Mettler.

Susie had lived in the Pierceton area prior to moving to Columbia City. She had been involved with Passages for many years before her health declined and moved to Masons in 2018. Susie was a very happy going gal, had a bright smile, and was very social. She enjoyed costume jewelry, chewing gum and being around people.

Susie is survived by her sisters, Joan (Robert) Plew and Judy Phillips brothers, James (Bonnie) Mettler and Denny (Krista) Mettler; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; and great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Mettler; mother, Mary Katherine Gebert and step-father, Bertis Ralph Gebert; brother-in-law, Wayne Phillips; and a great-nephew, Andrew Mettler.

Visitation will be 10 to 12 pm, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will begin at 12 pm with Pastor Tim Grable of Sugar Grove Church of God officiating. Burial will take place Monday at Hillcrest Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her mother. Memorial donations may be given in memory to Passages.
