Kenneth C. Cozad, 100, formerly of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his home in Greenwood, Indiana. Born May 15, 1921 in Huntington, he was the son of Fred and Florrie Cozad.
He graduated from Huntington Township High School with the Class of 1939. On June 25, 1943, he married Helen Walker. During WWII, Ken and Helen both worked for General Electric. He also had been a milk man and retired as a mechanic for Schrader Automotive in Columbia City. Ken was a proud IU basketball fan who enjoyed gambling and his Thursday night league bowling with friends in Columbia City. He also enjoyed golfing, participating in a league in Churubusco, and even golfed up until he was 95.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra "Sam" Cullers of Greenwood, Shirley Robbins of Columbia City and Shari Bechtold of Columbia City ; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and was expecting a fourth in March. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Cozad in 2016; sons-in-law, Vernon Robbins and Dick Cullers; brothers, Raymond Cozad and Fred Cozad, Jr.; and sisters, Elsie Zumbrum, Ernestine Richards, Mabel Wilhelm; and his cat Casey.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City with visitation beginning at 12 pm. Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus will be officiating. Ken will be laid to rest by his wife at South Park Annex Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in memory to the donor's choice.
