Larry L. Goss, age 81, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at his residence.Born on January 14, 1932 in Rochester, IN, he was the son of Raymond and Alma (Rosborg) Goss.
He was born and raised in Rochester and graduated from Rochester Joint High School with the class of 1951. After graduation he proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years and spent one year in Korea.He was awarded the Good Conduct, the Korean Service, and the United Nations Service Medals for his service.He married his wife Mary Jo Thompson, in Rochester, on April 12, 1953. Larry lived in various places prior to 1968, when he moved to Columbia City.He worked for the Schultz Brothers Company for 42 years, as store manager, then later with Ace Hardware and Reelcraft for several years.He also served on the city planning commission and the Chamber of Commerce committees.He was a member of the Columbia City Elks Lodge #1417 and the American Legion Post #98.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years Mary Jo Goss of Columbia City; sons Mark (Dorothy) Goss of Plymouth and Greg (Margo) Goss of South Whitley; daughter Rae Ann (Jerry) Bowman of Fort Wayne; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister Virginia Mow of Angola.He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Raymond Goss.
Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Saturday July 13, 2013, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.A short prayer service will follow at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gene Rohrer officiating. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Goss to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, Parkview Home Health Hospice, or to Ducks Unlimited.Please visit
