Lavinia A. Croy- Robinson, 84, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Born on August 16, 1930 in Kentucky, she was the daughter of Doc and Maude (Stamper) Fletcher.
She moved from Kentucky to the Whitley County area at the age of 10. She attended Collins School and on April 21, 1948, she married Albert Croy in Huntertown. Soon after in 1950 they moved their family to Fort Wayne Besides being a homemaker and raising her children, she worked for 18 years at various nursing homes, retiring from Indian Village in Fort Wayne. After retiring, she enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida and had lived in Columbia City from 2010 until moving back to her daughters house in 2012. She had been a member of Columbia City Church of Christ and American Legion Post 330.
Survivors include her children, Shirley A. (Will) Collins of Fort Wayne, David L. (Barbara) Croy of New Haven, Deborah S. ("Butch") Saylor of Fort Wayne and John O. (Becky) Croy of Fort Wayne; sister, Janette Wolfe of Columbia City; brother, William Skeet Fletcher of Churubusco; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Larry E. Croy.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the funeral home with Neal Noey officiating. Burial at Eel River Cemetery.Memorials may be given in memory of Lavinia to Heartland Hospice.
