Leila H. Appleton, age 72, of Kimmell, IN passed away at 1:50 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009 at her residence. Born on November 23, 1936 in Lake County, IN, she was the daughter of Arthur and Ruby (Frashour) Wilson.She graduated from high school in Hebron, IN. On November 9, 1957 she married Robert A. Appleton in Merrillville, IN. A resident of Wolf Lake since 1978, she was a devoted housewife and mother and she assisted her husband in general farming. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ligonier, IN.Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Robert A. Appleton of Kimmell; daughter, Karen I. Appleton of Wolf Lake, Brenda S. (Troy) Fleetwood of Wolf Lake, Kathy L. (Cecil) Harrison of Albion; son, Roland A. "Chip" (Sarah) Appleton of Wolf Lake; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and brother, William Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin R. Ladig, brothers and sisters, Robert, Franklin, Richard, Betty, Clarise, Nolly, Maxine, Jack and Erlene.Visitation is Sunday, March 8, 2009 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service is Monday, March 9, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Committal service will follow at Wolf Lake Cemetery, Wolf Lake, IN. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Appleton's memory to Riley Hospital for Children with envelopes available at the funeral home.
