LILLIAN A. WORKMAN

September 11, 1918 — December 30, 2007

Lillian A. Workman, 89, formerly of Columbia City, IN and recently of Grace Village Retirement Center, Winona Lake, IN passed away at 6:49 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the retirement center. She was born in Elkhart, IN on September 11, 1918 the daughter of Floyd C. and Lillian (Hall) Rhodes.

She graduated from Riley High School, South Bend, IN with the Class of 1936 and she also attended the South Bend College of Commerce. She married Wilbur E. Workman on April 10, 1938 in South Bend, IN. She worked as a secretary at various locations and has resided in Columbia City, since she and her husband, the late Pastor Wilbur E. Workman, retired from the United Methodist pastorate. She assisted her husband in the ministry where they served for 45 years in several northeastern Indiana churches including, Bourbon, Craigville, Silver Lake, Albion, Elkhart, Ligonier, Muncie and Etna Green.She was a member of the Columbia City United Methodist Church and she loved to cook and bake.

Lillian is survived by 3 sons, Ted (Janet) Workman, New Haven, IN, Daniel (Mignon) Workman, Franklin, IN and Thomas Workman, Fort Wayne, IN; 1 daughter, Janice (Ronald) Conrad, Troy, OH; 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pastor Wilbur E. Workman and 2 sisters, Katherine Lynn and Rhoda Crosby.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Columbia City United Methodist Church, Forest Parkway, Columbia City, IN on Friday, January 4, 2008 with Pastor Paul Arnold of Columbia City United Methodist Church and Rev. Dr. Cynthia Reynolds, Warsaw District Superintendent officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, IN. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Workmans memory to the Building Fund of the Columbia City United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
