Linda Mae (Halsema) Cripe, age 73, of Columbia City, IN, passed away at 3:33 pm on Saturday August 28, 2021, at I.U. University Hospital, Indianapolis. Born on May 16, 1948, in Lafayette, IN, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Anna Mae (Powell) Halsema.
Linda attended Central Catholic High School and graduated with the Class of 1966. She then attended Porter Business College, Indianapolis and graduated with the Class of 1967. On September 30, 1972, Linda married Kenneth Cripe in Fort Wayne, where they lived until moving to Karen Kove, Columbia City, in 1978.
Linda worked for Eli Lilly, Indianapolis, before moving to Fort Wayne. She then worked for Fisher Brothers Paper Company, before having her children, and then worked for Supermarket Service, also in Fort Wayne for 25 years until they closed. Following that, Linda worked at Autoliv, Columbia City in Production until her retirement in 2008. She also operated Country Crafts Etc. with her husband Ken for over 20 years.
Linda was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake Township, Fort Wayne, and enjoyed researching family genealogy in her free time. She also loved her family and all types of crafts.
Survivors include her husband Ken Cripe of Columbia City; sons Shawn (Lisa) Cripe of Fort Wayne and Andy Cripe of Columbia City; 5 grandchildren; sister Janet (Ron) Loft of Lafayette; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Thresa Hartrum and Betty Marie Halsema.
Friends may call on Thursday September 2, 2021, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral services for Linda will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday September 3, 2021, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, 2507 Engle Road, Fort Wayne.
Memorial contributions in memory of Linda may be made to American Cancer Society.
