Linda Landis, 65, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, April 4, 2016 at her home. Born May 3, 1950 in Kendaville, she was the daughter of Kenneth Guy and Betty Mae (Wilcoxson) Crowell.
She grew up in rural Columbia City and enjoyed sewing items in 4-H. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1968. She went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force and traveled around the world while serving during the Vietnam War. Along with being a homemaker, she had worked at Dana Weatherhead, Essex Cable and Wire, drove school bus for over 10 years for Columbia Township and operated Lindas Orchard with her husband, Cleo.
Linda was a member of Oak Grove Church of God and the American Legion. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed family fishing trips each summer to Wisconsin and Minnesota and driving the boat as family members waterskied. She also enjoyed bowling and playing bingo with her best friend.
Survivors include her husband, Cleo Landis; daughter, Lorie (Michael) Ferguson; son, Michael (Margaret) Landis of Las Vegas; brother, Terry Crowell of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Adrienne (Evan) Long, Emilie and Jaima Ferguson, Dylan, Devin and Dominic Landis; and expecting her first great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation is Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2-4 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pastor Carroll McNutt will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery.
