Lloyd E. Klein, age 63, of Columbia City, IN passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, IN from injuries he incurred in an automobile accident on US 35 South of Kingsbury. Born on October 2, 1946 in Fort Wayne, IN he was the son of Arthur A. and Sevilla I. (Robinette) Klein.He graduated from South Side High School with the Class of 1965. Graduating with the Class of 1971, he completed his education at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering. On November 15, 1969, he married Kathy S. Nebehy in Fort Wayne. The majority of his lifetime he resided in Fort Wayne until 1998 when he and his family moved to Columbia City. He retired in 2007 from USSI with over 30 years of service as a Chemical Engineer. He was a member of the Spoonpluggers Group; the bridge group at Woodland Senior Center; and a former member of the American Chemical Society. He attended Columbia City United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Kathy Sue Klein of Columbia City; daughter, Jennifer Anne (Brent Bartol) York of Columbia City; brothers, Lee (Pat) Klein of Warsaw and Larry J. Klein of Churubusco; 3 grandchildren, Leah and Kayla York and Christopher Bartol all of Columbia City; and sister-in-law, Carol (Tracy Swiontek) Nebehy of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Elizabeth Lynn. His daughter, Amy Klein, also died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the scene of the accident.Visitation for Mr. Klein and his daughter, Amy, is Friday, March 12, 2010 from 2-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services for Mr. Klein and Amy are Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Arnold of Columbia City United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Klein to Columbia City United Methodist Church or Woodland Senior Center.
