Lonnie L. Van, age 63, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born September 1, 1948 in Longview, WA, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy (Bowman) Van, Jr.
He graduated with the class of 1966 from Columbia City High School and earned a Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University in 1970. He completed his education with a Masters degree in business from Indiana University. On July 3, 1969, he married Kay Peeler in Columbia City. A Fort Wayne resident most of his lifetime, he retired in 2003 from B.F. Goodrich, Woodburn, with 37 years of service. After retirement, he continued to work for B.F. Goodrich as a consultant until 2007.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Kay Van of Fort Wayne; son, Brett (Brenda) Van of Fort Wayne; daughter, Lora Van of Fort Wayne; 2 granddaughters, Sierrah and Briana Van; brothers, Michael (Debra) Van, Sr. of Leesburg and Greg Van of Columbia City; sister, Nancy (Doug) McBride of Ossian; and his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Peeler of Fort Wayne. His parents preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 1-3 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Van to the donor's choice of charity. Please visit
