LORRAINE A. WILLYARD

August 6, 1929 — March 18, 2012

Lorraine A. Willyard, age 82, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012 at her home.Born August 6, 1929 in Churchville, MD, she was the daughter of B.W. and Ada (Blackburn) Parlier.

When she was an infant, she moved with her family to Bedford, OH, where she graduated from Bedford High School with the Class of 1947. She completed her education when she graduated from Cleveland Bible College, Cleveland, OH. On August 5, 1949, she married James B. Willyard in Bedford. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to Lowell, MA, Spiceland, Muncie, Pendleton, Nappanee, DeMotte, Elkhart and Columbia City. She worked at Columbia Township School as a teacher's aide for 3 years, Dr. David Willyard's medical office for 8 years and she also served as church secretary at several pastorates in the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Columbia City United Methodist Church and Philomatheon Reading Club both of Columbia City.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Richard C. (Cindy) Willyard of New Castle and David C. (Patty) Willyard, MD of Churubusco and daughter, Kim S. (Len) Amburgey of Columbia City; daughter-in- law, Beth Willyard, Hixson, TN; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Pastor James B. Willyard, son, J. Russell Willyard and sister, Mildred Hodson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Columbia City United Methodist Church, 605 N Forest Parkway, Columbia City. Burial will follow at South Park (Annex) Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Willyard to Columbia City United Methodist Church Bus Ministry.
