LUVERNE A. GEIGER

March 11, 1915 — December 21, 2007

LUVERNE A. GEIGER, age 92, of Columbia City, IN died at 12:40 a.m Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Oaks Living Care Center, Columbia City, IN. Born on March 11, 1915 in Cody, WY, she was the daughter of Charles Workman and Flora (Scholes) Workman.

Raised in Wyoming, she lived in several different locations during her lifetime including: Sierra Leone, South Africa, Gabon, Brazil, and Mexico, however, she has lived in Columbia City, IN since 1957. She attended Cody, WY Schools for 12 years, Idaho Business College, Pocatello for 1 year and IPFW, Manchester St. Francis Colleges for 2 years and 3 months at University of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She married Paul L. Geiger on November 6, 1941 in Reno, Nevada. She worked at Sierra Rutile in Sierra Leone, Bethlehem Steel Company in Gabon and the Peabody Library in Columbia City, IN retiring at the age of 80.

She is survived by, 1 daughter, Jane (C. Thomas) Niemeier of San Diego; 1 son, Paul Geiger, Jr. of Columbia City, IN; and many nieces nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul L. Geiger, 3 sisters, Ruth Thompson, Pearl Tucker, and Flora Evans, and 1 half brother, Walter Scholes.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 709 Business 30 West, Columbia City, IN with Pastor Ross ODell officiating. Visitation with the family will take place at 9:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place at a later date.
