Loving, caring, forgiving and understanding were just a few words to describe the characteristics of Lynda Joy Blaising. She was a beautiful lady who had a beautiful smile. She was nonjudgmental and was easy to talk to. Anytime she could help her family, she was there.
The year 1961 saw Alan Shepard make the first U.S. space flight, the Peace Corps was established by President John F. Kennedy, the construction of the Berlin Wall began, Pampers started selling their first disposable diapers and the first Six Flags Amusement Park was opened. On November 26, 1961, no news could be more exciting that year to Stuart and Myra J. (Dykman) Jordan as they announced the birth of their daughter, Lynda Joy Jordan in Holland, Michigan.
Growing up in Holland, Lynda enjoyed going to the beach, riding her bike everywhere and Dutch dancing. She started working in a local deli with her brother and would graduate from Holland High School with the Class of 1979. With a desire to help visually impaired children, she furthered her education and received her Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University and her Master's Degree from Ball State University.
She had been a teacher in West Virginia for a year and moved back to Michigan. In 1986, she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Thirty years of her teaching career was spent with East Allen County School Corp. and most recently with Northeast Indiana Special Education Cooperative. She also taught an online Master's class for Indiana University.
On June 13, 2009, Lynda married Chris Blaising at Wolf Lake United Methodist Church. She was full of love, caring, forgiving and understanding. Lynda loved spending time with her family and having recreational days on the lake. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was excited to hear the news she was going to be welcoming a fourth grandchild in the upcoming months. She found relaxation in playing online games on her phone and tablet along with tending to flowers in the garden and coordinating a clam bake.
Sadly, and unexpectedly at the age of 57, Lynda Blaising passed away at her home on Big Lake north of Columbia City, Indiana on Tuesday morning, February 12, 2019. She is survived by many loving family members and friends. Surviving family include her husband, Chris Blaising; daughter, Erin (Jeremy) Peer, of Fort Wayne; son, Paul Keim, of Roanoke; step-children, Jenna (Ben Pearce) Blaising of Indianapolis and Ryne (Nancy) Blaising of Chicago; father, Stuart (Tink) Jordan of Plainfield, Mich.; mother, Myra (Al) Kohsel, of Holland, Michigan; siblings, Dan Jordan, of Belmont, Michigan, Steve (Nathan Hood) Jordan, of Austin, Texas, Gwen (Jim) Stuuts, of Schoolcraft, Michigan and Patrick Jordan, of Plainwell, Michigan.; and grandchildren, Marley, Annabelle, Isla Joy, and Baby Boy Peer. She was preceded in death by her step-son, Logan Blaising.
