Marcia I Allen

Marcia I. Allen, 81, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her home. Born on August 18, 1933 in Andrews, she was the daughter of Kenneth M. and Helen L.(Clark) Slagal.

She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1952. On December 15, 1952 she married Larry L. Allen. Marcia was a telephone operator early on in her life, but she was most proud of being a mother and homemaker. For a brief period, she also was a nurses aid at the Linvill Nursing Home. She was a member of Community Bible Church.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth L. (Jody) Allen of Columbia City, Randy J. (Patty) Allen of Huntington and Ty Allen of Columbia City; daughter, Zina (Bryan) Corkwell of Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat and dog, Buttons and Buster. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years, Larry Allen; daughter, Dorinda Allen; brother, Rex Slagal; and sister, Sandra Maggart.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor John Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Community Bible Church or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
