Margaret H. Kiser, age 101, of North Webster, IN passed away at 2:45 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Milford. Born July 6, 1908 in Jefferson Township, Whitley County, she was the daughter of Alva and Rosa (Schmidt) Hartley.
She lived in Huntington County from 1943-1951, Ligonier for one year and since 1952, she resided in North Webster. On July 15, 1930 she married Elton L. Jim Kiser in Fort Wayne. She owned Kiser Laundry Service, North Webster, was a seamstress at the Bridal Shop, Warsaw, and Fees in North Webster. She was the oldest active member of North Webster United Methodist Church and a pie baker for the church's Strawberry Festival.
Survivors include her sons, Max L. (Donna) Kiser of Marion and Ronald L. (Jean) Kiser of Mariposa, CA; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elton L. Jim Kiser, brother, Ralph Hartley.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at North Webster United Methodist Church, 7822 E Epworth Forest Road, North Webster. Funeral service will immediately follow calling at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor David Smitley of North Webster United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Kiser to North Webster United Methodist Church Fund.
