Mary Catherine Skinner, age 86, of Albion, IN passed away at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 at North Ridge Village Nursing Home, Albion.Born November 6, 1924 in Columbia City, IN she was the daughter of Robert Franklin and Tacy Bernice (Hill) Baker.
A resident of Whitley and Noble counties, she graduated from Wolf Lake High School.On June 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Bernard G. Skinner by Reverend Marion Shroyer in Columbia City.A homemaker, she also worked at Blue Bell for a short period of time. She was a member of the Ormas Baptist Church where she served as a Bible school teacher, attended the ladies missionary circle and sang as a choir member.
Survivors include her daughter, Barb E. "Bobbi" (Les) Keener and son, Ronnie (Terri) Skinner both of Albion; 6 grandchildren including Ty (Trinna) Keener, Chad (Jodi) Keener, Mindy (Mike) Barnhart all of Churubusco, Holly (Heath) Bingham, Abby (Zachary) Mitchell and Tyler Skinner all of Albion and 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Gaylord, Cromwell and Ellen (Robert) Kellogg, Greensboro, NC; 1 sister in law, Joann Baker, Columbia City.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Genna Skinner, brothers, Gene and Paul "Bud" Baker, sister, Lois Johnson and grandson, Shane Keener.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.Funeral service is Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery, Ormas.Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Skinner's memory to the American Cancer Society.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
