Mason Phonsavanh

October 30, 1985 — May 7, 2017

Mason Phonsavanh, 31, of Ft. Wayne and formerly of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 on the trails of Winona Lake. Born October 30, 1985 at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne, he was the son of Deng Dan and Lorraine (Moog) Phonsavanh.

He grew up in Ft. Wayne and Columbia City. As a boy he enjoyed riding his bike, fishing with his grandpa, playing video games, being with friends and camping. Following being homeschooled, Mason graduated with a bachelors degree in Network Management with Indiana Tech. During college, he drove for Home City Ice and would enjoy the times when his dad would ride along with him during his routes. After college, he worked with the Warsaw School System in the IT department and would move to Colorado where he enjoyed the nature and outdoors, where he could hike and rock climb endlessly. Moving back to Indiana, he worked at PDQ in Columbia City and Zimmer Biomet in Warsaw. He often could be seen riding his tall, 2-framed bike that he and his friend Chris built, around downtown Warsaw. He also took the bike out to Iowa and rode it along with a group across the state.

He had been attending Level 13 Church in Ft. Wayne. An excellent cook, Mason experimented with many recipes and ideas. He was very artistic and had a hand that could draw excellent; he was a gifted musician who could play many different types of instruments; and he also was very mechanically inclined. It is easy to state he was excellent at everything he put his mind to.

He is survived by a very loving family, including his parents, Dan and Lorraine Phonsavanh, of Ft. Wayne; sisters, Danita (Jesse) Bennett, of Grovetown, Ga. And Vanessa (Tanner) Frymier, of Ft. Wayne; grandparents, Kaeo Phonsavanh, of Laos and Bud and Ada Moog, of Columbia City; great-uncle, Bob Moog, of Ft. Wayne; nieces, Evy, Harper, and Ella; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
