MATHEW A. NEUKAM

November 18, 1927 — April 3, 2011

Mathew A. Neukam, age 83, of Larwill, IN passed away at 10:06 a.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his daughter's home.Born November 18, 1927 in Allen County, IN, he was the son of Otto F. and Mabel M. (Noe) Neukam.

He graduated from Southside High School, Fort Wayne, with the Class of 1946 and from Indiana University with the Class of 1956.After graduation, he served in the United States Army National Guard.On July 14, 1956, he married Chalon M. Ormiston in Fort Wayne.He lived in Fort Wayne for many years where he worked at Harvester for 8 years and Bowmar Industries for 8 years.In 2002, he moved to Whitley County.He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, Mason's and Enta United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his son, Mark E. (Kathy) Neukam of Fort Wayne; daughter, Becky (Duane) Thompson of Larwill; sisters, Lois Fisher of Indianapolis and Norma Russel of Glendale, CA; 5 grandchildren.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Luke E. Neukam.

Memorial service is 1 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 with one hour of calling prior to service at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Pastor Judy Follis of Hope Lutheran Church will officiate.Masonic rites will be conducted by Mr. Bob Downing, Secretary of Summit City Masonic Lodge #170, Fort Wayne. A reception with the family will immediately follow the memorial service in the DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home Community Room.Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Neukam to Parkview Whitley Home Health and Hospice or the Boy Scouts of America.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
