Maureen Rheda Story, 65, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away at 1:49 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born on April 13, 1948 in Marion, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Eileen M. (Beshlian) Lantz.
She graduated from Marion Bennett High School with the Class of 1966, and Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan with the Class of 1970 with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. On March 13, 1971 she married David A. Story. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Fort Wayne until 1987 when they then moved to Columbia City.She had been a Social Worker at Bowen Center in Columbia City and enjoyed gardening, flowers, spending time at the lake with her grandchildren and her dogs.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, David A. Story; son, David C. (Elizabeth) Story of Columbia City; grandchildren, Weston, Amelia and Avery Story; sister, Patti (Dave) Falk of Valley Lee, MD; and Copper, her dog. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph Lantz; and Aggie, her dog.
A memorial gathering will take place from 3 to 7 p.m.on Friday, February 21, 2014 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN.A memorial remembrance of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the funeral home with Rev. Nancy Fergusson officiating.Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Storys memory to Wounded Warrior Project.
