Miriam Louise Honeywell, age 83, died at her home on Monday, January 14, 2008. Born on March 22, 1924 in North Manchester, IN, she was the daughter of Henry and Anna (Hoffman) Smith.
She graduated with the Class of 1942 from Gilead High School and in 1944 from Ravenscroft Beauty College. On December 24, 1948 she was united in marriage to John Mason Honeywell in Fort Wayne, IN. A lifetime Churubusco resident, she was formerly employed by Dana and retired with 17 years of service. In 2007, she retired from Albion New Era where she had worked in the bindery and on the paper distribution since 1986. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include son, John (Brenda) Honeywell of Fort Wayne, IN; daughters, Linda (Max) Bair of LaOtto, IN and JoAnn (Bill) Diehm of Fort Wayne, IN; 6 grandchildren, Christina McHenry of Lafayette, IN, Carla (Jason) Lowe and Carrie (Jason) Bolinger of Kendallville, IN, Taryn Diehm and Jonathan Honeywell of Fort Wayne, IN, and Jennifer Chaffee of Stroh, IN; 8 great-grandchildren, Madison McHenry, Grant McKinney, Kristopher Gordon, Alexis Lowe, Elizabeth and Jackson Bolinger, Melody and Storm Chaffee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on October 20, 1970, brother, Garland Smith and sister, Georgianna Thomas.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Sherri Long of Huntertown United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco, Allen County, IN. Memorial bequests may be given in memory of Mrs. Honeywell to the Churubusco Fire Department.
