Myrna Jane Brown-Yancey, age 69, of Columbia City, Ind. died at 1:47 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. Born on September 23, 1940, she was the daughter of Lee Arthur and Ethel (Weeks) Brown.
A lifetime resident of Columbia City, she graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1958. She was employed at the Whitley County Hospital, Blue Bell, and retired from Fibre Form in 2002. Myrna has always been known as Myrt to her parents, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by 6 daughters, Nila Leckrone-Born, Lila (Russell) Leckrone-Gagnon, Debra Brown all of Columbia City, Ind., Mary (Victor Angulo, Jr.)Brown-Coe of Fort Wayne, and twins Amy and Angie of Virginia; brothers, Gale Brown of Arizona, Cleo Brown of Columbia City; sisters, Bonnie Brown-Knetter of South Whitley, Ind. and Sandra (Bill) Brown-Watkins of Columbia City;20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Raymond Jackie Brown, Jr., grandson, Gregory Leckrone, brother, Richard Brown and sister, Dee Mock.
Visitation will take place on Monday, September 13, 2010 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be on the same day at 1:00 p.m. with Certified Funeral Celebrant Eddie Beagles, CFSP, CFC officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Myrt's memory be made to the final expense account c/o DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
