Nicholas Carson Linvill, age 21, of Columbia City, IN left this life in a traffic accident one mile from his Oliver Lake summer home, LaGrange, IN, Friday, August 1, 2008. The son of Steven and Kathleen Linvill, he was born on April 9, 1987 in Marion, IN.
As a junior in broadcasting and telecommunications at Ball State University, he was an on air personality of campus radio station WCRD. At Columbia City High School, Nick was active in speech and debate, varsity swim team and band. He was a DeKalb County Tops
4-H winner and a 4-H exchange student to Japan, Mexico and Poland. He won many championships in showing horses, cats and baking. Nick was active in the LaGrange United Methodist Church presenting childrens sermons. He was an avid reader and enjoyed music, video games and playing cards with friends. He especially enjoyed water sports at Oliver Lake, swimming, sailing and his jet ski. He was a loving son and loyal friend and an inspiration to all. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Katelyn, 12; uncle James Beaver of West Lafayette, IN; uncle Tom (Nancy) Beaver of Kalamazoo, MI; aunt Ellen (Lannie) Maloney of Columbia City; grandmother, Aimee Linvill of Columbia City; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Dr. Norman Beaver, grandmother, Marjorie Beaver, and grandfather, Marshall H. Linvill.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. A celebration of life and music service is at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to service Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the LaGrange United Methodist Church, 209 W Spring Street, LaGrange, IN. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Blue River Cemetery, Whitley County, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Columbia City Speech Debate Team. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
