Patricia Ann "Patty" Nicodemus, age 57, of Columbia City, Ind., died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.Born in Wolf Lake, Ind., May 29, 1953 she was the daughter of Roderick C. and Martha Jane (Friskney) Johnson.
A lifetime Whitley County resident, she graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1971.On April 21, 1973, she married William D. Nicodemus at Eel River Baptist Church.In 1975, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Special Education from the University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she assisted her husband with their family dairy farm operation.Very active in the Whitley County 4-H program, her memberships included 4-H Inc. and Indiana/National Holstein Association.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, William "Bill" Nicodemus of Columbia City; children, Anne Nicodemus of South Whitley, Douglas (Jessica) Nicodemus of Columbia City, Jason (Erin) Nicodemus of Columbia City, Andrea (Adam) Starkey of Peru, Patrick Nicodemus of Columbia City, Daryl (Claudette) Nicodemus of Dale, Amanda Nicodemus of Knox, Adam and Andrew Nicodemus both of Columbia City; mother, Martha Jane Johnson of Churubusco; sisters, Mary Lou (Danny) Biddle of Albion and Phyllis (Daniel) Ferguson of Churubusco; brother, William Johnson of Albion and 9 grandchildren.In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Robert Nicodemus, brothers, Willis and Henry Johnson (infant), grandsons, Trenton Dean and Joshua Corbine Nicodemus.
Visitation is Monday, March 14, 2011 from 2-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.Funeral service is Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor James Clifford of Laud Christian Church officiating.At the family's request, dress is casual for visitation and funeral service.Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Columbia City.Memorials may be given in memory of Patty to Whitley County 4-H Dairy Club or the National Kidney Foundation.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
