Paul Alex Azar, 68, of Columbia City, passed away unexpectedly while outside helping neighbors on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Born March 22, 1952 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Walter and Marcella Louise (Logan) Azar.
He graduated from South Side High School with the Class of 1970 and received his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University. On September 22, 1987, he married Diane Northrup. Paul was an engineer for Almet in New Haven for over 20 years. In 2014, he and Diane moved to Columbia City. Paul loved his family, history, classic cars and he was a collector of various things.
Survivors include his loving wife, Diane Azar; daughter, Roxane Forrester; son, Tony Surface; sister, Kathy Hockamon; brother, Jimmy Azar; and grandchildren, Bryce Forrester, Lucas Forrester, Carson Forrester, and Jarrett Forrester. He was preceded in death by his parents.
To celebrate Paul's life, a gathering of family and friends will be 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
