Paul Pete Wayne Hile, 45, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 in Columbia City. Born on July 2, 1969 in Columbia City, he is the son of Paul H. and Bonnie J. (Murphy) Hile who survive him.
As a youth, Pete enjoyed hanging out with his buddies and playing the new creation of home video games on his Atari and Commodore. With the Commodore, he learned that he could write his own video games which sparked his interest in attending Ivy Tech for Computer Programming after graduation. He graduated from Central Noble High School with the Class of 1987 where he was a member of the Chess Club. He had worked at various places including Scotts Grocery Store, Reelcraft Industries and Kroger.He grew up attending Big Lake Church of God and recently attended Columbia City Church of the Nazarene. Pete enjoyed going to the library, playing on the computer, walking or riding his bike around town and loved Christmas time. He also was a car enthusiast, having owned a Pontiac Fiero and Chevy Corvette.
Also surviving are his brother, Mark M. Hile of Columbia City; sister, Jennifer M. (Kenny) Button of Columbia City; six nieces; a nephew-in-law; two great-nieces; and the family dog, Buddy. Pete was preceded in death by his infant son, Zachary Jahn in 1994 and grandparents, Delford and Marjorie (Ebey) Murphy and Harvey J. and F. Luella (Smith) Hile.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2 to 6 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Beers officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Whitley County EMS.
