Family was very important to Tony McConnehey. He was always willing to help out with his kids, Brittany, Josh, and Anita and thoroughly enjoyed doing great family things with them.
Born on February 18, 1965 in Columbia City, he was the son of Paul S. McConnehey and Deanna (Roberts) May. The only boy in his family, Tony was the middle child and he loved to reminisce about growing up in Collins. He often shared many stories about fun times with friends and his cousin Todd Short, who was more like a brother.
Tony attended Churubusco High School and graduated with the Class of 1983. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and Chicago Cubs Baseball, in addition to the old classic movies of the 30's and 40's, and television shows such as Law & Order, American Pickers, Pawn Stars, and muscle car auctions.
On June 14, 1994 Tony married Margaret "Peggy" Brown in Las Vegas, NV.
Always a hard worker and intent on providing for his family Tony worked as a machine operator at Essex for 18 years. When he was laid off he searched to find new employment quickly, not just relying on unemployment for his pay. He soon found work at Cuno for several years and was currently working at Dexter Axle.
Before it got to be too much to handle, due to a chronic back ailment, Tony could be found on Troy Cedar Lake having cookouts, camping, fishing, pontooning, and canvassing the area in his golfcart, with plenty of 80's music playing.
Just this past summer Tony was able to take a vacation to New York, somewhere he had always wanted to go. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered in our loving hearts.
