Ralph Earl Galway, age 89, of Columbia City, Ind. died at 9:35 p.m. on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the home of his daughter in Columbia City (Big Lake), Ind.Born on October 29, 1921 in Marion, Ind. he was the son of the late Ralph I. and Mattie M (Iliff) Galway.
A graduate of Marion High School, he then enlisted in the US Navy and later in the US Air Force where he served for 22 years. Born and raised in Marion, he lived there the majority of his life except while in the service.In 2003 he moved to Columbia City to be closer to his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah (Donald) Law and Sharon (Robert) Stephens of Columbia City, Barbara Galway of Huntington, Ind.; and son, Ronald (Vanessa) Galway of Union City, Ind.; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; brother, Floyd Galway of Salt Lake City, UT; and his beloved cat, Blackie.He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service will be held at the Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Ind. at a later date.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Mr. Galway's name be made to the Whitley County Humane Society.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.Arrangements were entrusted to DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, Ind.
