RALPH E. HAUTH

August 26, 1921 — September 8, 2008

Ralph E. Hauth, age 87, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 10:04 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2008 at his home. Born on August 26, 1921 in Kosciusko County, IN he was the son of Roy E. and Thelma May (Dunn) Hauth. A Warsaw native, he graduated with the Class of 1939 from Warsaw High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Army from 1942 - 1946. He then moved to Columbia City, IN and he lived in the same home since his return from the Army. On April 9, 1944, he married Maxine V. Noyer at Dunfee Christian Church. For 30 years, Mr. Hauth worked in the axle plant for Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne, IN retiring in 1978. He attended Dunfee Missionary Church.Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Maxine V. Hauth of Columbia City, IN; children, Peggy (Richard) Ruge of Lincoln, NE, Rex Hauth of Columbia City, Jean (Woody) Trostel of Portland, OR and Philip (Lisa) Hauth of Fort Wayne, IN; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; 3 brothers, Earnest (Merl) Hauth of Warsaw, Roy (JoEllen) Hauth, Jr. of Winona Lake and Austin (Patty) Hauth of Florida; 1 sister, Ruth Ann Neff of Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George and William Hauth and sister, Margaret Ann Taylor.Visitation is Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service is Friday, September 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with 1 hour of calling prior to service at the funeral home with Reverend Dennis Rowe of Dunfee Missionary Church officiating. Graveside military honors will be presented by the Whitley County Korean War Veterans Honor Guard with burial to follow at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Hauth to the Salvation Army or Dunfee Missionary Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
