Raymond G. Shoda

Raymond G. Shoda, age 74, of Perrysburg, OH and formerly of Columbia City, passed away at 8:05 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee, OH.Born on October 14, 1939 in Columbia City, he was the son of William R. (Ben) and Edith Irene (Gay) Shoda.

He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1957.Raymond proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1965.

He spent his lifetime in Columbia City until 2003 when he moved to Perrysburg, Ohio.
Raymond worked in building maintenance for Glenbrook Mall in Fort Wayne and then GTE/Verizon retiring in 1998 after 20 years of service.

He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Columbia City and in Perrysburg, OH in addition to the Columbia City Jaycees and Mizpah Shrine in Fort Wayne.
Raymond enjoyed golfing, fishing, NASCAR, gardening,and tinkering with electronics. He also enjoyed spending time with his puppy, Tiny.

Survivors include his four children, Deanna (Steve) Wilhelm of Fort Wayne; Marcus Shoda of Churubusco; Melissa (Robert) Landsaw of Fort Wayne and Mathew (Danielle) Shoda of Noblesville;brother, Paul (P.J.)of Columbia City, sister, Marilyn (Paul ) Johnson of Columbia City; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; companion Virginia Baker of Perrysburg, OH.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ralph Shoda.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 3-7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Judith Follis officiating.Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Shodas memory to Columbia City Fraternal Order of Eagles.
