Rebecca Janelle Hollenbaugh, age 35, of South Whitley, IN passed away at 5:55 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. To quote her sister, "Throughout her running career Rebecca has won many ribbons and medals but all of them pale in comparison to the reward she received this morning when she ran home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ." Born on November 22, 1973 in Whitley County, IN, she was the daughter of Steven B. and Vicky P. (Hurd) Myers.A lifetime Whitley County resident, she graduated from Whitko High School, South Whitley, IN with the Class of 1992. She graduated from Anderson University, Anderson, IN with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and St. Francis University, Fort Wayne, with a Masters Degree in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner. On October 19, 2001, she married Jade M. Hollenbaugh at Lake Wawasee, IN. A Registered Nurse, she worked for 4 years at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne and for 5 years at Dr. James Hanus office, South Whitley. Since 2004, she worked as a Nurse Practitioner for Dr. Lisa Hatcher, Columbia City. Her memberships included South Whitley United Methodist Church, CAPNT and Sigma Theta Taw, South Whitley, AANP and Fort Wayne Track Club. An avid runner, she was an active participant in Whitley County Relay For Life.Survivors include her husband, Jade M. Hollenbaugh of South Whitley; daughter, Lauren R. Hollenbaugh of South Whitley; son, Jackson S. Hollenbaugh of South Whitley; twin sister, Rachel (Jamie) N. Bowers of Warsaw; brother, Kyle S. Myers of South Whitley; parents, Steven B. and Vicky P. Myers of South Whitley. Visitation is Monday, August 17, 2009 from 2-8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral service is Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at South Whitley United Methodist Church with calling from 9 - 11 a.m. prior to service at the church. Pastor Paul Burris and Amy Wagner will officiate with burial to follow at South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, IN. Memorials may be given in Rebecca's memory to the Hollenbaugh Children's Educational Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
