Richard Gibson

Richard "Rick" Gibson, 75, of Churubusco, Indiana, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. Born March 5, 1947 in Columbia City, he was the son of Claris "Hoot" and Ary (Carmon) Gibson.

He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1965. Rick spent several years living in Arizona where he worked at a group home and a horse farm. After his wife Patricia passed away, Rick moved to Missouri in 2005 and then back to Whitley County in 2015. Rick loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, training and riding horse, and a supporter of the Whitley County 4-H when his kids were involved as they were growing up.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Leah Gibson; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Chris Tellef; sisters, Marge Weigold and Marilyn Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Merlin and Pat Gibson; grandchildren, Gage Gibson, Morgan (Tyler) Hawk, Zachrey McElray and Britney Gressley; and great-grandchildren, Lucy and Lennon. Along with his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Gibson; great-grandson, Wyatt; brothers Charles Gibson and Robert Gibson; and brothers-in-law, Doyle Weigold and Jerry Smith.
